Tall Trees Studio - Artist
“I was 16 when I fell in love with opal," says Daniela L’Abbate, while exploring caves in Italy. From those years on, her speleological experience started an interest in minerals, gemstones, and fossils, which she developed into a thorough knowledge since.
After qualifying herself as a gemologist and developing a sound skill as opal cutter, she started producing micro-sculptures in opal and other gemstones to be set into jewellery. Her work is now in private and merchants’ collections worldwide.
The discovery of E.H. representation of art form in nature led Daniela into a project that was to combine various side of her interests like art and beauty -nature and science: she carved some of those mesmerizing forms in wax and had them cast in silver and bronze for those that love and appreciate jewellery with a meaning.
Daniela is now working on duplicating few more of Haeckel's art forms in Nature
