From Helene F. Campbell
Lapis Lazuli is one of the most sought-after stones in use since man’s history began. Its deep, celestial blue was and is the symbol of royalty and honour, gods and power, spirit and vision. It is a universal symbol of wisdom and truth.
Lapis lazuli is found in limestone in the Kokcha River valley in north-eastern Afghanistan, where the mine deposits have been worked for more than 6,000 years. Afghanistan was the source of lapis for the ancient Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations, as well as the later Greeks and Romans. Today Lapis Lazuli is found and mined in Russia, in the Andes near Chile, Angola, Argentina, Burma, Pakistan, Canada, Italy, India, and in the United States.
Hand assembled in house at Tall Trees Studio, the Boulder Opal Beads are on Australian Recycled Sterling Silver Pins and Argentium hooks, again made in house at Tall Trees Studio.
The earrings are 40mm long from the top of the hooks and are 10mm at their widest.
